The quest for collecting zoids started almost 20 years ago, youthful year of 1984 when my Mom bought me my first zoid; whitehead Spiker. Zoids already existed more than two decades ago, and appeared in toyshelves all over the world . Windup after windup, battery OP to battery OP I collected zoids (mostly original japanese releases) till my late teens (zoids were never an "in" thing for 18 year olds during the 90's). But its popularity dwindled and these fantastic toys became dusting shelf artifacts. After many years of neglect due to priorities growing up, my collection deteriorated as it was passed on to my younger brothers. Early 1998, I planned to sell what was left of my entire zoid collection until I came across Jerry Dreiss webstite. Jerry's site refueled my passion of zoids and with the help of the Trading Post, I was able to deal with Zoidfans around the Globe, trading and selling zoids to build our own collections. There I dealt with Francis Ng, Ironwing, Lim Lok Kean, Montres, Terry Wayne and Lionel Tosan who further increased my love for zoids. |
| Late 1999, the zoid's climax reached it height when Tomy reissued Zoids, making the New Japanese Release available. Accompanied with an anime series, zoids became an instant hit in Asia then eventually to US and UK after the anime series were dubbed. Hasbro then partnered with Tomy to distribute zoids to UK and US markets. Tres made the new Zoidfans group, after the demise of bad trader Brian Thompson. After that most of the zoidfans around the world, like Ern, Art, Karrion, Pheno, Thomas, Darth Tom, Darth Bubba, Mike Bazell, Smile, Furball, Zee, joined the global frenzy and the zoid craze continues.... | |
